Protect Yourself from Identity Theft

Identity theft is an epidemic. The frequency of identity theft cases has increased dramatically in the last four to five years. It is nationwide, it affects everybody, and there is very little you can do to prevent it. Worst of all, you usually cannot detect it until it's too late. It is one of the fastest-growing and most reported crimes across the country right now. Identity theft fraud may account for as much as 25% of all annual credit card fraud losses.

For the criminal, identity theft is a relatively low-risk, high-reward endeavor. Credit card issuers often don't prosecute thieves who are apprehended.
