The Treasurer, as custodian of all Town funds, is responsible for receiving all monies belonging to the Town, managing the money to ensure maximum cash availability and maximum yield of short-term investments and reconciling all bank accounts.

The Treasurer is responsible for managing the Town’s payroll and benefits for Town employees and retirees. Accounts payable checks are processed and mailed from this office after approval of the department head, Accountant, and Town Administrator.

The Treasurer is responsible for various year end reports including mandated state and federal reports, W-2s for employees, and 1099s for independent contractors. The Treasurer borrows funds for capital projects authorized by Town Meeting. The Treasurer is responsible for managing Tax Title Accounts and foreclosing on properties that have unpaid taxes.

Additionally, the Treasurer’s office is responsible for the collection of Sewer user fees. Sewer fees are mailed twice a year. Questions on your Sewer bills should be directed to the Sewer Commissioners. Bills may be paid by check or money order made payable to the Town of Warren, or online through the link on the left side of this page. When paying in person in the office, cash is also accepted.
