Zoning Information
Click on the links below for current zoning information in Warren. The Zoning Bylaw provides information on uses permitted in each district and the dimensional requirements for buildable lots. Certain "by-right" uses may require site plan approval from the Planning Board, and some uses may only be permitted by special permit of the Planning Board. The Board acts as expeditiously as possible to render fair and impartial decisions that protect the rights of applicants and property owners.

The Zoning Map shows the locations of Warren's three zoning districts: Village, Residential, and Rural. Several overlay districts provide additional regulations that apply only to designated areas. The Mill Development Overlay District provides flexibility to promote mixed use development in the mills in West Warren. The Major Development Overlay District encompasses over 1,000 acres in southwest Warren and is an ideal setting for large-scale projects such as office and industrial parks, a private school or corporate campus, medical facilities, etc.

The Building Commissioner is the Zoning Enforcement Officer in Warren. Parties that wish to conduct a business should seek a zoning opinion to learn of applicable zoning requirements. Contact Jack Keough, Building Commissioner at 413-436-5701, ext. 262 or by email to warrenbuildingdept@comcast.net. Jack will inform you whether your proposed use is permitted in the district, and discuss the steps you must follow to obtain local approvals.
